Rep Power: 0 | | | Mutliple aerobic workouts a day? Currently, I get up early in the morning and hit the treadmill for a good 30 minutes; I do interval running.
Sometime in the afternoon I will do the same thing. And occasionally at night as well.
My question: Is this a good thing?
I know that any exercise is good and I want to get a lot of it in 1 day. But I find it hard to go for 60 minutes at a time; usually get bored. I really push myself every time I go for 30 minutes.
Thanks! |

| Why? What result are you looking for from multiple bouts of cardio?
If you're looking to burn fat and reshape your body, you're far better off mixing it up and adding some weight training / body weight exercises in there, rather than going back for multiple rounds of cardio.
If you just like cardio and want to go do more, then by all means ... go for it! But since you said you find it boring, I'd say why bother. |

I lift a few times a week as well.
I just want to get rid of the fat with 30 bouts of aerobic and hitting it hard.
I can go 30 minutes on the treadmill no problem. 60 is kinda boring and I find myself looking for excuses to quit. That's why I break it up into 30 minute sessions. |

Rep Power: 72 | | The thing about cardio exercise is that, as a fat burner, it's not that effective. I mean, it's great at burning a few more calories, but most people burn somewhere between 300-600 calories an hour doing cardio (depending on intensity, their weight, heart rate, etc.). So an additional 30 mins on the treadmill is good for maybe 300 calories or so.
Is it bad for you? Nah. But you have to decide if it's worth it for you overall to make it a "good thing" (with apologies to Martha!). For me, going back to the gym a 2nd time? Plus another 30 mins on the treadmill? Not really worth it - time wise or effort wise.
OTOH, if you just HAVE to have that Snickers bar in the afternoon (or whatever your poison of choice is!), then maybe it'd be worth it to you to go back and burn off the 300 cals.
Honestly this really is one of those personal choice things. |

Rep Power: 7 | | I feel ya. If I'm on the treadmill and don't really have anything to take my mind away.. is it over yet?
Keep it up though, you're doing a great job. Perhaps a change in scenery? |

Rep Power: 0 | | I just have to ask, what type of HIIT are you really doing if you can do it for 30 minutes? Is that 30 minutes straight, or does that include a warm-up and cooldown?
I'm just asking because I'm in decent shape and I can barely muster 20 minutes. That includes a 4 minute warm-up and a 5 minute cooldown.
If you can do 30 minutes straight, then maybe it's time to up the intensity.
On a different note, what's the point of doing 3 cardio sessions per day if in the end, it's going to burn you out and leave you with a bad taste in your mouth when it comes to working out?
Success in fat loss comes with consistency over time, and if you're burned out in a couple of weeks, then you're less likely to continue.
I haven't even broached the higher likelihood for overuse injury, especially if you're doing the same type of cardio every day. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
