Unhappy Need Help at Gym

Good morning: I am starting the gym tonight. I can't afford a trainer because I don't work. I have to stay home and take care of my uncle he has C.P.
I have been on W.W. for 4 years and have lost 80 pounds. But I need to increase my exercise program and tone up. I still need to lose 60 pounds. I no how to operate all the equipment (from going to the gym in the past).. The problem is I am a Large muscel woman (German in me) My wrist are a size 11. I don't want to get any more muscel just burn fat. I love the elipticycle and can work on that for 1 hour. But I notice my calfs are bigger then my husbands now. ( Don't like that, at all) Can any one Help me or am I doomed.

Gaining muscle is not that easy. If it were as easy as doing some cardio, and your muscles sprouted like weeds, we would all be professional bodybuilders. To build muscle, you need the correct stimulus through weight training, and a caloric surplus of clean foods.

I would not recommend going by what the scale says. Take measurements with a tape measure, test your bodyfat, and go off what you see in the mirror.

How are your diets. If you are not getting the results you are looking for, chances are your nutritional strategy needs some tweaking.

Dont trust gym mirrors! If you think you calfs are big, go Home and look in the mirror. Gyms like to bend mirrors to giive the appearance of being bigger than you really are. A the 24 hour fitness i go to, i look great in the mirror, small gut and big chest. Om my wall mirror at home it is the complete opposite

Like someone mentioned, you COULD be built in a way that is very easy for you to build muscle BUT still building A LOT of muscle isn't easy. It takes a combo of several things to do it and a significant calorie increase.

I would really focus on your cardio. Try running, try to build distance (vs. short faster runs) and you should be able to see a difference after a while.
