Help

Alright, I been on my diet for 2 days so far and all is going well. But I don't think I'm doing things properly. For one I eat 4 times a day. Which normally bowl of cornflakes x 2, salad and brown rice with x for dinner. I noticed I only do like a minute for cardio so in tital I do about 5 minutes skipping every day :S weights take like 10 minutes and thats me done for the day. This isn't enough to reach my goal is it? I think I'm disllusioning myself. Thoughts?

i'm honestly not sure what your question is - you've got a few different things going on...

your meal plan.
corn flakes x 2 times a day (what are you putting on the corn flakes? Skim milk?)
brown rice, salad, and something else for dinner - What are the portions like?
What is the other meal?

I don't see any fruits for you to eat, not muchin the way of veggies either, other than the salad and what are you putting on the salad.

Your meal plan doesn't look bad... but -- cornflakes aren't all that nutritious- have you tried any bran cereals or oatmeal? somethig that will give you a little more bang for you buck.

Describe your workout a little more?
you're doing skipping for 5 minutes and weight lifting for 10 minutes?

You've been doing this for 2 days... reaching your goals takes time, have patience with your self and build on what you do every day..

The corn flakes are more specifically known as "Special K". On the front of the box it says "eat special K 2x a day for 2 weeks and lose 2 inches off your waist". I should of been more specific but when I have corn flakes I normally slice a bananna and add that to it for better taste. One I have in the morning at 8 and 10. At 12 I have lunch, whoch is normally salad (Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber and ham slices). At 2 I have an apple or something, the same with 4 o'clock and at 6 I have dinner, which is normally just brown rice with whatever meat I can find. The plate I use is a salad plate, so not too big, not too small, so it does the job.

I tend to do a minute of skipping every now and then during the day as after a 100 of them I keep tired and my feet start to hurt. For weights I normally do 30 reps, 3 sets on 2 exercises building my arts and my shoulders. Thats it.

I realise that but I'm not sure if what I am doing is ENOUGH to get where I want, when I want. Though just to clarify, I'm want to lose 10 - 14 pounds by September the 4th.

Hope this helps.

Just a note: most nutritionist will tell you (and a question on this diet was raised on Spark People) that this diet is very low calorie, which is why you might lose weight on it, but it's not a healthy way of losing. Plus long term, it's a rather boring diet which studies have shown does lead to binging.

For your goal -- to lose 10 -14 pounds in one month - that's gonna be a little tough - if you want it to stay off... more studies have shown that it's safe to lose 2 lbs a week, and that weight stays off if you maintain good habits... by Sept 4, you will be on your way to your goal though... patience, grasshopper, patience(I'll give a virtual cookie to anyone old enough to know that reference)

Another concern I have is I don't think I'm getting enough calories a day, I'm sure I'm well under 1000. This can't be healthy either. Also, if the corn flakes thing is a bad idea, what should I replace it with?

special k isn't necessarily bad for you- it's low calorie.. but it doesn't have much fiber...

There's a bunch of sites that will tell you how many calories you should be consuming in a day... and stick with it... (this quesion gets asked a lot on spark, and the dieticians answer it pretty well) in the long term you only hurt yourself and your long term goals by not consuming enough... you may lose a little bit of weight but it won't stay off.

Add some fruit into your diet - strawberries, blueberries, even an apple.

1000 calories or less is too low, young man... (don't make me lecture you too..) what should it be?
Quaker has a calculator on their site.. this will give you an estimate
http://www.quakerricesnacks.com/QRS_...Calc/index.cfm

but every body is different... some need more some need less...

Your Daily Calorie Needs: To maintain your current weight without adjusting your level of activity, you should consume approximately 2966 calories per day.

Want to lose weight? You will need to reduce your total daily calories by about 500 in order to lose about one pound per week. (One pound of body fat equals approximately 3,500 calories.) This can be accomplished through a combination of diet and exercise. Try eating 250 less calories each day and increasing your daily exercise to burn an additional 250 calories.

I'd stick with 1200 a day. Though do you think I'm doing enough exercise to reach my goal? I'm pretty sure 5 mins of cardio a day is BAD. I know I basically answered my own question but I guess I'm just looking for reassurance.

If you dropped down to about 2000 calories a day, you would lose 2 lbs a week - any more than that it's not all that healthy for you =- thinking long term.. once you drop some weight theny our calories will decrease... 1200 is awfully low...

5 minutes of cardio is low, but it's better than 0 minutes of cardio... every day increase it... don't kill yourself trying to do it all at once.. PACE YOURSELF...

Today you do five minutes, tomorrow you do five minutes and 30 seconds- -increase it daily...

just an observation....... The calories I have found I lose the same amount if I'm 500 calories under my maintenance intake or 1000 under. you will just have to try a balance between getting enough calories and not walking around hungry all day. I eat cereal for a snack all the time. I didn't notice what kind of milk you use but there is a big difference in calories between whole and like 1% which is what i use. So you will just have to calculate everything, I have found guessing just doesn't work out very well. The cardio and stuff you will have to build up an endurance to them. when i started lifting weights it was like as soon as i start i was stopping. The amount of weight your talking about losing in such a short time hmmmm..... If you get it off that fast most likely it will be coming back on. thats how it always worked out when i go into starvation mode diets. Our pounds came on a few pounds at a time and thats the way every one says we should take it off............. good luck to you.
