Finding Motivation

Hi, this is my first post, and I sought out this place because I want to lose weight. im 145 pounds and 5'6" My basic problem is I lack motivation. I always try to start excercising, then after 1 or 2 days I fall back in the same routine. My friend told me to try a product called Lean N Fit, which has hoodia cactus which i heard about on Oprah..but its expensive product. Supposedly it increases determination to actually workout aside from the appetite suppresant hoodia. Is this a good thing to try? Its not the cost so much I just want something that works.

What do you all use?
What do you recommend as an alternative?

I am adamantly or however you spell it - opposed to using any kind of weight loss drug to help you lose weight.

I sound like a broken record and it annoys people, but the only thing that works long term is a healthy diet and exercise... if a weight loss miracle were in a bottle, there'd be no overweight people.

Motivation -- has to come from within yourself... find a reason why you want to lose weight (and you aren't that overweight.... if you aren't already, you are probably in a healthy bmi range)

It takes 21 days to build a habit... if you want to work out three days a week... find something you enjoy and three weeks later.. you've got your habit built... and you're doing it.

Motivation is something that is very personal, and what works for me (being wholly irritated with my body image and how others treat me because of it) may not work for you.

The best suggestion I can give you is for you to write down a list of ten things you'll like more about yourself when you reach your goal fitness level. Then write down ten things that will be easier to do when you're at your goal fitness level. Prioritize each list from most important to you to least important.

Then take the top 5 from each list and sort them in order that is most important to you. Then put those lists whereever you need them: on your bathroom mirror, your refrigerator, workout equipment, gym bag, whatever catches your eye.

And every now and then, read those lists aloud to yourself. Seems silly at first, but it does make it a little more real.

Hope this helps.

Totally agree with Mal. Personally, I probably take it further - I distrust and dislike the entire slimming industry and their products - designed to make fat profits for shareholders. I lost weight by eating healthy - no powders, drugs, potions, or magic diet plans. At work last night, my mate read out some health advice - about eating a healthy balanced diet and combining it with exercise - good stuff, but he was reading it from the back of a packet of ready salted fried potato crisps (chips to Americans)!

Anyway, back on topic, my only additional advice would be to 1) find an exercise that you enjoy - running, cycling, walking, hiking, kick boxing, home DVDs, golf, yoga - or whatever! 2) Set yourself some fitness and exercise goals and targets. For example, to complete a 1000 crunches, to run in a marathon, cycle 100 miles etc. Then reward yourself with a gift when you reach those goals.

U need counselling and motivation.... never give gap in your excerise and don't go back to routine... its very dangerous for you....Try to change daily routine , enviorment and specially your diet.
