Rep Power: 0 | | | Water I feel that drinking lots of water has helped in my weight loss. I drink 2-4 liters a day. My boyfriend has also been drinking lots of water and has lost 45lbs. Of course, we have both been watching our calories and exercising, but I know that the water is helping too. I don't mind the extra trips to the bathroom(when I'm not home, it's not my toilet paper that is getting used up ). I noticed that I also get thirsty in the middle of the night(it is very hot in my third floor apartment at night), so I usually drink 15oz before bed. My kittens have me up most of the night anyway, so I don't mind the potty trips |

I completely agree with you!! The more water you drink, the more you are bound the loose. The only downfall is have to "go" so often... |

Rep Power: 0 | | I actually can't stand regular water iunless its practically frozen.
I do like Fruit20 though. However, its really expensive. So, I use tea.
herbal teas with no caffeine. Not the mixed or bottled stuff, mine is loose-leaf. I buy special tea bags for on the go, or just use infusers when I'm at home. And, I almost never use any sort of sweetener.
You get no calories, no sugars, and no caffeine. It IS essentially the same as water. Even my doctor told me that it would count. The only thing you get is flavor!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | That's what I do at work. I used tot ake water or tea with me, but it just gets thrown out. So its far less expensive to just use ice cold tap water with a bit of lemon juice. |

You guys have any input? | Anne, for me, as someone who used to drink a fair bit of soda, I found it made me retain water and bloat like crazy. The problem (at least for me) is that once you start drinking it you crave more to drink, and more often go for another soda. I had to cut it out altogether, only occasionally cheating. And weight has dropped off since.

Rep Power: 0 | | Like others have said the 8-10 glasses of water requirement is unsubstantiated, although we could stand to drink more water in this country. In fact, like others have mentioned, water-rich fruits and vegetables like watermelon, tomatoes, and cucumbers are rich in water. And according to the research and professor emeritus at Dartmouth Medical School, Dr. Heinz Valtin, soda and coffee also count toward our required fluid intake Watermelon is 91% water while cucumber is 95%. Plus, people need to be aware that the size of the person does not change the amount of water that needs to be consumed, this could lead to the polar opposite condition of dehydration called hyponatremia. Oddly enough, the symptoms shared between dehydration and hyponatremia are practically identical. Lethargy, headaches, dizziness, and vomiting are symptoms for both. And both can lead to confusion, coma, and eventually death. In my opinion, water can lead to weight loss and maybe an hour long boost in one's metabolism, but not to substantial weight loss. Some say water prevents one from overeating, while others believe that weight loss is due to water's efficient flushing of wastes from the body. All in all, drink more water, but don't get too hung up on it. |

Rep Power: 0 | | My personal trainer always told me to drink 128 oz of water a day. Which I do. I really can't handle suger water anymore, it makes me feel a little sick. Even with my orange juice in the morning I have 8 oz of orange juice mixed with 12oz of water. Over all my fluid intake has helped with my weightloss. Caffine in drinks don't count as water is what I was taught but I do have a 4oz cup of green tea and to keep my soda needs now I love the new Fresca with Black Cherry (only with dinner).
Also I had a problem waking up in the middle of the night for a snack but this is because my body wanted water so I drink a 8 oz glass before bed to curve that. Also keep a fresh bottle of water by the bed just in case. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hmm. This is very informative.
I once read a book where this kid drank too much water and died from it, so now I'm paranoid about drinking too much of anything-- but the kid was drugged up and really hot and kept drinking large glasses of water one after another. It's just one of those things that kinda stuck with me and won't go away. |
