As all of you know, I am not the best deiter in the world. I've tried everything! Even restricting to 1,000-1,500 cals, and I still fail! I've come to the conclusion that deiting just isn't for me, which is why I have resorted to exercise. My question is, if I eat around 1,500-1,700 cals a day and exercise 1 hour on the treadmill, will I see results? Please give me your input!

lol you "resorted" to exercise
it should be your 1st port of call
infact you should exercise anyway
dont be lazy with it and you will sure see results my friend, eat well, exercise and sleep well, you will see awesome results m8
My point is, I probably won't eat well.
I won't over-do it and pig out every night.
But I probably wont stick by 1,200 cals everyday.
I just want to know if exercise without dieting ( but without overeating ) can work.

In my experience, both diet and exercise have to be going to lose weight well, but my diet calorie intake goal is 1300.
Of course, it all depends on your own basal metabolic rate, etc. The general rule of thumb is 3500 calories is a pound of fat. So, take your base metabolic rate (you can find a good guideline for this online), subtract the 1200 calories/day, and then see how long it would take to reach 3500 cals lost. Add exercise to increase the cals lost to your goalweight loss rate.

Remember, basal metabolic rate will give you only the calories you burn by living, NOT by walking around, showering, and god forbid, exercising. I think my basal is 1400 or something, but my 'maintenance' is around 2100 or 2200.

True, true. The maintenance calories is what we should be looking for. Thanks
