Rep Power: 0 | | | Watch out for the reset I was wearing mine on my belt on the side, but when I reached into my pocket to get something, it would reset. So, I have moved it onto my pocket. That way, when I reach for something in my pocket, then I am going in behind the pedometer.

Rep Power: 13 | | | The most accurate way to figure the distance you went, is once you get home to map it out on google maps, expedia, mapquest, etc. That will tell you within 0.1 miles of accuracy.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Distances The problem with using google maps, mapquest, etc. is that you can't use it to measure your walking while at work, in the house, going to the neighbor's house, etc. If you were going down the street, then that may be beneficial.

Rep Power: 38 | | I found that if I had my pedometer in the wrong place on my belt I would get a bad reading (much further than I had actually walked). Maybe it was a bit of a `bounce' effect causing it to over measure. The best place I found was on my belt just about half way between my hip bone and belly button.
I had a hard time working out stride length, so I measured a distance I was walking (by driving it in my car ) and then adjusted my pedometer until it gave the same reading. I later confirmed the distance with a GPS and it was very close.
