Rep Power: 0 | | Well, I'm sure deep down you already know the answer to that question.
There are a ton of ab gizmos out there, all just begging to take your money. Yes, many of them do work your abdominal muscles, that isn't really the issue. Do they work any better than anything else? nope, not really. Some of them have even faced fines by the FTC for false claims and, I believe, have been removed from the market.
So, bottom line, numerous studies, (those NOT done by the people trying to make money from the product) have shown that ab contraptions are, by and large, not any more effective than other abdominal exercises (crunches, etc) and in some cases, less effective.
Save your money. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Ab workouts in general aren't a major contributor to weight loss, although a good ab routine will help you with tone and core stability. (Unless the ab workout is the only exercise you do, and you eat next to nothing, then it would be argued that the ab workout is contributing to your weight loss.
A good ab routine will help your running cycling as well, as your core develops.
My one comment would be that cardio isnt the be all and end all of weight loss, as you can expend quite a bit of energy with resistance workouts and additional muscle mass will help your weightloss and metabolism.
There's a series of ab workouts here if you're interested |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Ab gizmos don't work I have never known any of those AB doohickeys to work, and I have tried several of them.
Try these ab workouts combined with a healthy diet for best results.
The abdominal muscles are an important group of muscles to support the lower back and protect the internal organs. Now before any exercise it's always really important to make sure you get a good stretch. And right now I want to show you my favorite abdominal stretch called the seal. What I'm going to do is go ahead and get on my mat, have my knees about shoulder width apart and I'm going to walk my hands out just above my shoulders and keep them a little further than shoulder width apart. Now as I walk my hands out a little further I'm going to drop my hips and just sink my head and my shoulders and feel that good stretch right there in your abdominals and breathe. Okay, now you're going to go ahead and bring your hips back up and keep your hands where they are and we're going to go ahead and round out your back, get that good hollowness in your stomach, walk your hands out a little bit more and stick your fanny up right toward the ceiling and drop your armpits right towards the mat. Make sure you keep your back as round as possible. Okay now we're going to go ahead and get back up, walk your hands back up, and you can sit back and now you're ready for some great abdominal exercises. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
