I'm ready to loose some weight.

Hello... I'm 17 and 248 pounds.... I've officially been trying to loose weight since friday, however took 2 days off because of some important dates (I still watched what I ate, I just didnt count calories)

I went to the track down the street to run, But man it was hard... I want to be down there 40 minutes to an hour a day, But Most of the time I was there.. I was walking... I guess its been a while since I ran, because it was hard. I managed to make it around the track one complete time with no stopping but it was rough.

I suppose as a keep going It'll get easier

I signed up with this "FitDay" site that I've seen posted around here, So I can see what I eat and maybe it'll help me to not give up.

Males should be eating 1800 calories per day minimum, right? My bodies needs 2396 calories a day to operate, so thats about a 600 deficit, So maybe I could burn 400 a day exercising thants about 1000 calories a day?

Does anybody have any tips for running on the track? What other things could I do throughout the day to burn calories? Thank you

Hello and welcome! Congrats for taking that first step to achieve a healthy lifestyle. You are off to a good start by going to the track, even if it is walking right now. Keep at it and you will be jogging in no time.

You want to figure out your maintenance level for your caloric intake and then deduct 20-25% from that to cut body fat.

As far as burning calories, just being active will burn calories. Walk more when you go places. Use steps instead of elevators when you can, park further away from stores and get a little walking in there. There are lots of little things you can do, but will add up and make a big difference.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the tips and info....

One last thing, I went down to the track again last night (I did ALOT better this time) ...I managed to make it around the track more than 2 times straight, And Instead of walking the rest of the time I walked around where the track turns and ran on the straight parts... Is this alright for my workout?

That isa grea improvement from last time. As far as walking the turns and running the straight aways, that is a very good thing to do. It is a form of Interval Training of sorts, known as HIIT. It has been proven to be very good for fat loss. Keep up the great work.

Walk, take the stairs, push-ups, sit-ups. Don't try to go to hard to fast. Take your time and week by week increase your spped/distance. Before you know it, you will be running miles.
