I think what's meant is not that the exercise becomes ineffective on an empty stomach so much as it's not healthy to do and it doesn't make the exercise any MORE effective. I know I would *never* exercise on an empty stomach because I'm hypoglycemic--if I tried to do a bunch of cardio right after waking up with no food in me, I could do some serious damage to myself. I tried it once. I'll never ever do that again.

Good for you. Its not to say that you cant lose weight by exercising. The myth that morning fasted cardio is "the fat burning zone" is what I was referring to.

You just confused me. You cant budge the weight, but yet you can do the allotted reps? *scratches head*

I wouldn't choose that exercise to build 'great obliques' firstly I dont train abs/obliques much - but i have good ones! (when im slightly lower BF too! )

If i were to train obliques, I'd use bumbbells - stand up, hold dumbbell and lean over to the side NOT holding the weight.

simply do 3 sets of 8 - 12 reps (different reps ranges affect different people in different ways)

They are just another muscle like any other in the body - not a lot of movement there but still, your able to train them... so they'll respond to proper training - guys that do abs/obliques for 50 crunches, then 50 side crunches, then ... and so on... are wasting there time!

And main thing to do if you want great abs, is to have a BF under 10%... no training needed! but training them will improve the look i guess.

Once again, sorry i haven't been on much, but I've been busy setting up my new site with a pal of mine. the site IS now up and running, and although i'd like to tell you the name, Im sure the rules say not to - so i wont!

hopefully i can now get on here a little more.. hope everyone's achieving their goals!!
