Rep Power: 0 | | | Dance to lose Hi
It is cold outside; I can not go and walk. Do you think dance will do the trick? In cold weather , I become very lazy. I don't like to get out of my house. |

Of course you can dance instead of walking outside, it's still of form of exercise.
I am currently going to line dance classes 4 times a week and 2 hrs each time. I found that going to classes gives me the motivation (no excuse to skip, especially when you have to pay for the class) and also I've met new friends there and we keep each other accountable. Also there is a pattern for the different music, there are some line dance that are really fast that you feel like you're running .
If you don't like going out to classes, you can buy those dance exercise video and workout at home. I like to follow some patterns rather than just turning on the music and swinging my hip. And I love the dancing moves too, not as difficult and boring as the aerobics IMO. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I have a few dance workout DVDs - including hula, which maybe won't be as beneficial as full-on cardio but they are good to do just to get something done rather than nothing at all. And they're fun too.
Also recently took up Dance Dance Revolution (on the PS2 with the dance mat) and it's been good so far.
I say go for it! Dancing is some form of cardio - and if you really go at it with full arm movements and a huge range of motion, I think it'll be really great. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I Love to Dance! My wife and I used to go dancing all the time when we first got married. (This was back when I was thin - 70 lbs ago). In fact I probably burnt a couple thousand calories each week at the dance clubs. Now with the increasing responsibilities of parenthood we rarely get out to dance anymore.
We also have DDR (Dance Dance Revolution video game) but our mats are in the closet. Maybe it's time to break 'em out and start dancing again! |

Rep Power: 0 | | I dance at least 3 or 4 times a week, and you can definitely work up a sweat that way. That, and I think you get increased body awareness through dancing. While what I do is usually social dancing (which still involves leaving the house, but you do meet people), I'm sure you could find something you can do at home. I have a dance-based aerobics video--maybe something along those lines. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I love dance workout videos. You can burn serious calories. It's all in how you move it. I love, love, love to dance, so when I get a good dance video, I'm way into it and putting extra umpfh in the moves. As silly as it is..I used to be in showchoir and dance chorus & stuff, so I like to pretend I'm performing and then I really go all out. It works! I like a lot of the Prevention Fitness Systems workouts like Dance It Off and there's another one, but the name escapes me right now. If you don't wanna buy them and just want to try them out I suggest signing up for netflix or blockbuster.com. That way you can just rent them. Just my opinions, that's all.
Also - to those DDR people. I'm way out of loop. Is this a playstation game or is it video or what? I've heard a lot about it, but I still don't know what it is. Sorry. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Dancing, or any form of training drill or technique can contribute to aerobic work for the body for a slightly elevated burn. Gains in grace and happiness probably benefit other aspects of life too. |

I went 60 pounds ago and still going for more weight loss. It is not just for shaping it is great for fat loss. I know you said you are married with 3 kids, There are gyms with daycares in them. I take my kids with me when I go.
Just some advise that has helped me.
Good luck |

Good luck | Excellent point live4fitness. Strength training helps preserve muscle tissue, which in turn burns more fat. Low cal diets coupled with high activity levels actually do the opposite. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | dancing to lose weight OH WOW!!!!.... its so funny that you asked that because I was just trying to decide if I am going to fill out an application for some new show. But I heard dancing is a good way and it seems fun...so Im searching the web and i saw the danceyourassoff.com website. I really think Im going to apply. I mean it couldn't hurt and its Oxygen network...which i thought was really cool since thats like one of the only channels i watch nowadays. But neways, i do really think Im going to do it. I need to commit to something so maybe this will be it for me. And I love music and I dance at clubs ...so Im going for it. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
