but also remember, that everything you do counts.... even while you are sleeping you are using energy and hence, burning calories... don't stress out too much or think that you need to workout enough for 3,500 cals to be burned in a workout... things like brushing your teeth and washing dishes all count. for example... in a 24 hour period, if i did nothing but sit, i would burn 1,633 calories based on my height and weight. I think this is called the resting metabolic rate.

if you go to this website http://www.caloriesperhour.com/ or http://www.fitday.com you will see how much particular things are. What I would do is enter in what you think a typical day for yourself is... and watch the calories you have burnt sore!!! I think that if you are working out and burning 500 cals in exercise.. you are doing good.

Think of it this way. If I eat only 1300 cals a day... then i already have all of those burned off, plus the 300 extra... if I did nothing else, i would burn off 2100 cals a week - which is about 2/3 of a pound... add in your 500 cal workouts every once and a while, plus the rigors of daily living, and you are fine...

i have changed it to 4bls a week i now i dont think ill put it back on because im doing excercise, my only bad habits are not exercising im about 11bls over my BMI for my height so really all i could lose is the 11bls.. but i would be still on the high side of my BMI for my height i want to be right in the middle.also it depends on how i look if i lose 14bls and i like the way i look i will stop i still want to keep my curves and my breasts!!

yeah even 4 lbs a week is a lot. With that amount of weight loss there will also be a lot of muscle burnt away too. And your "breasts" wont lose an extreme amount until around 12%. Oh and amomo, if your metabolic rate is, say like 2500 cals, and you go on a 1300 calorie diet, if your on it for a given amount of time then your resting metabolic rate will decrease dramatically, then when you go back up to 2500 calories youll pack on the pounds very easily, eventually your rate will go back to 2500.

4lbs a week is alot, sometimes you loose more at first b/c your new ways of eating and exercise are like a shock to your system, but then it slows down to 1-2lbs a week and thats the best way to go.
to loose 1lb a week you need to have a calorie deficit of 3500(a week) works out to 500 cals a day-so lets say your daily intake is 2000 cals/a day, you would want to create a defict by exercise or reducing cals ex: eat 1800 cals a day and burn 300 cals a day w/ exercise then you would get your 1lb weight loss for your week , hope this helps (and yeah errtu's pretty darn helpful and full of advice, just make sure you always tell him you get more than 1700 cals in a day lol)

Wink My routine...

What I am doing to loose that fat off

. I eat 1/4 of my rations, and remove the sweets!
. I Replace Soda and Juice with water
. I have began to Convince my mom to make me salads for a snack instead of those snickers or cookies
. I also have a plan for when i get back to school; That cafeteria food has alot of fat, and the pizzas and burgers etc. they have are veryyyy greasy. Yet, there is 1 selection people always ignore; A ceasar salad! I will eat them every day, and i replace chocalate milk with non-fat white milk.
.Also, I have very, very intesnse games of ping pong in the summer, and also I do alot of housework (And gardening too) So far, these have made dramatic changes. I have lost over 8 POUNDS in the first week. The second week, as
I have forgot who said, is less weight because in the first week, "It is like a shock to your system"
.I am only 14, but I want to loose weight! I weigh 110 now =( eek!
The posts here inspired me to become a member, i see people are nice over here.

But not only do i loose weight, when i fall asleep in class I have a excuse: I am burning calories!

It's very inspiring to see a person of your age already beginning to care about your health. Many of us waited until very late as adults to get serious.

A couple things for you to consider with the changes you have made.

Watch the types of juices you switch to drinking. There are tons that may appear to be healthy but in reality are just as bad as the colas. Salads are great but again watch the types of dressings you use and how much.

I'm impressed. at 14, I ate whatever was given to me. Luckily, it happened to be good food, but I doubt I'd have taken the initiative if it hadn't been. so yay you!

also, I can't say this enough: take it easy. If you deprive yourself of ALL your loved sweets, one day you might just snap and stuff your face. It's better to just have a little 'cheat day' now and then in moderation instead. I guess this strategy really depends on the person, though.

The whole calorie defecit theory is flawed, it does not take into account individual metabolisms and muscle %.
